On the Awakening reminds me of spring. It was made in April 2012, just after finishing high school. It was a time of freedom, a time to concentrate on the present.

The arrangement is carefully constructed, with air for each instrument. It’s my first prog “epic” and takes the listener on a rollercoaster of moods. Tension and release, tension and release.

I also created a music video for the song, driving all around Ilomantsi and taking my instruments to the most bizarre places. Oh, those memories.

The version on the album is a new remaster of the original 2012 mix, so it’s basically the same as three years ago, with some improvement in the sound.
